SIAD Romania's HSE project was launched with the aim of making health, safety and environmental initiatives more accessible and engaging for everyone.

Raise awareness and engage employees on issues such as waste management, workplace safety (including driving safety) and the promotion of good environmental practices.
SIAD Romania's HSE project was launched with the aim of making health, safety and environmental initiatives more accessible and engaging for everyone. Although HSE procedures were already in place and implemented, we realised that we needed to find more effective ways to make everyone understand the importance and applicability of these practices. When people are directly involved in a process, they become more aware of its relevance and tend to be more committed to complying with rules and adopting responsible behaviour, with the aim of protecting themselves, their property, the environment and their colleagues.
The initiative touched on several crucial aspects of our sustainability policy, with a particular focus on reducing environmental impact, people's well-being and promoting a more proactive safety culture. Each module of the project had a specific objective, but they were all united by the desire to raise awareness and engage employees on key issues such as waste management, safety at work and the promotion of good environmental practices.

The separate waste collection campaign was one of the central aspects of the project, aimed at raising employee awareness of the importance of reducing urban waste and increasing recycling.
We decided to eliminate individual bins and introduce recycling bins on every floor and in every office. To make the initiative even more engaging, we created a mascot, a turtle named Oli, who we introduced as our sustainability consultant. Oli was our recycling ambassador and helped to positively change the daily habits of our employees.
The adoption of this practice has had a direct impact on raising awareness, encouraging greater attention to waste separation, thus reducing non-recyclable waste and contributing to our goal of reducing the overall volume of municipal waste.

With a view to raising awareness on an ongoing basis, we have installed three screens in our facilities in Bucharest, with the aim of disseminating informative video material on potential hazards that may arise in the workplace and the preventive measures to be taken.
The videos are easy to understand and have proven to be an extremely engaging medium, capable of attracting the attention of employees and visitors, promoting continuous information and improving awareness of safety practices.
Another key element of the project was the introduction of a platform for reporting so-called ‘Near Misses’ (near accidents), which had the effect of encouraging employees to promptly report any dangerous situations that could pose a risk to health and safety.
Each employee was able to fill out a reporting form, available in both digital and paper formats, which also allowed for anonymous reporting. The aim of this initiative was to minimise risks by eliminating or preventing situations that could develop into actual accidents. Thanks to this platform, we have seen a significant increase in reports, a sign that a culture of safety is becoming increasingly ingrained among our employees.
Another important module was the defensive driving course for all employees who drive company vehicles. The aim of this course was to raise awareness among participants about the risks associated with driving and teach them best practices for anticipating and preventing dangerous situations. Participants reported a significant increase in their attention while driving, noting greater caution in everyday traffic situations.
